Happy Australia Day

Long weekends are literally one of the best things ever- it not only means an extra day of freedom, but I think it also encourages you to really enjoy the entire weekend, rather than let it fly by.

Saturday post-gym was spent at Centennial Park, feeding the ducks which is one of my favourite past times. I wore my new Stussy tee- their range at the moment is so me - lots of sports inspired, USA type stuff. It is such a fab throw on top that works well with lazy day shorts and cons.

Sunday aka Australia Day was overcast, so I didn't spend it at the beach as planned. Regardless the day was fun- on the way to a house party I stopped by Bourke St Bakery to pick up a lamington cake (amaze), plus a meat pie and flat white for myself. And of course, pavlolva was mandatory- those amazing slices of cream, meringue, sugary goodness are one of my favourite foods in the whole entire world.

Monday the sun finally came back out, so I picked up a bunch of bagels from Grandma Moses in Rose Bay (The only place that does bagels comparable to those at Dean & Deluca in New York), and then spent the whole day at the beach, interrupting tanning time only to grab an Acai Berry Jungel Juice and Coconut.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend!

Tomboy

Sometimes it is simplicity that makes the perfect outfit. I am currently in saving mode, but when I see a well priced item that I know I will wear a thousand times, and that can double as an office staple and a coffee date throw on, I will happily fork out the dollar bills required. This new piece from Staple The Label fits this criteria, and totally evokes a tomboy vibe when paired with a tartan headband, and a trusty pair of cons.

Wonderlust

If you have a few spare hours and are in the city, it is well worth visiting the War is Over: Yoko Ono exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA).  The  interactive displays offer a modern museum experience that is both thought provoking and fun. My personal favourites are the post-it note wall, where you post a love note to your mother (cue aw's) and the massive wall of maps where you stamp your favourite cities.

It was highly appropriate that I wore my Chip Chop "French Girls Rock" Tee from their new collection- I stamped Paris (of course), as I am counting down the days until I touch down in the 'City of Love' later on this year! It is fair to say that the wanderlust has officially kicked in- so I picked up some Macaroons on the way home- Bon Appetite Baby!

Icebergs

Icebergs is pretty much a cult figure in Bondi, with a personality all of its own. Who doesn't think of those contrasting blues as a summer staple?

The Icebergs Terrace is the perfect spot to soak up Sydney's summer rays with the help of a coconut and Quinoa and Kale Salad (so good!), or to refuel with a coffee post Bondi to Bronte run.

I followed up my morning with a coconut to go, and refreshed by the pool at home with a brand new issue of Elle Australia.

How to have a Perfect Summer Day

Summer often seems languidly long and never ending- until you look back and notice you have been enjoying your hols so much that there are only a few weeks left! Here is how I like to spend these perfect summer days:

1. Have breakfast at your favourite cafe. Preferably choose something pretty and insta-worthy. Don't forget your coffee!

2. Explore a new beach. Sydney has plenty of hidden pleasures, many of them harbour gems, so jump in the car, turn up the music and find a new favourite.

3. Lay out our towel and alternate between swimming and drying off. Bring friends for gossip or books and mags for solo trips- but whatever you do don't forget your favourite sunnies!

4. Indulge in hot chips, guilt free. I dare you.

5. Return home and record your daily adventures in your journal. This cute Kikki-K 'Sentence a Day' diary is perfect.

One of my New Years Resolutions is to improve my fitness (isn't everyones?). My current routine consists of pilates, dancing, running and the occassional Body Attack class at the gym- when I can drag myself out of bed early enough that is! One of the best ways to stay motivated is cute gym clothes, something I can only too readily attest to. In fact, I often step out of the house looking like a walking advertisement for Nike, so one of my resoultions should really be to mix it up a bit!

Whilst this outfit is devoid of #nike, it's certainly sportsware inspired. The top, by Staple the Label is a a perfect summer option that shows just the right amount of mesh-covered skin. The shorts are Mink Pink, and were a real steal in the David Jones post-christmas sales.
And of course, who can resist a white leather hat?!

On second thoughts and judging by this outfit, my other new years resolution should be to wear a bit more colour!

Happy 2014!

The month of Decmeber was a great finish to 2013- full of busy times enjoying the sun and catching up with friends. My insta feed is a great diary detailing my day to day happenings as I enjoyed being on Uni break! I kicked off December attending the Pimms Summer Launch at my fave hangout The Bucket List Bondi, saw my idol Taylor Swift in Concert for the third time, and was enthralled by the extremely talented Australian Ballet at the Sydney Opera House production of Cinderella. I also indulged in my free time with magazines and books, coffee catch ups with friends, and a lot of floating in my pool and at the beach!

Hope everyone had a lovely new years and bring on 2014- a year of hard work, adventure and travel!
